Delaware County Community College, Serving Delaware and Chester Counties

Alumni Events & Activities

Later this month, the College will participate in #GivingTuesday, a global day of charitable giving powered by social media and volunteer leadership on Tuesday, November 27.

Giving Tuesday takes place after Thanksgiving and after the shopping frenzies of Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. The College asks all alumni to help support the Educational Foundation by making a donation during this 24 hour period. Donations are always accepted online via PayPal at or you can contact the Alumni Office for alternatives.

As an added incentive, alumni and their spouses can use their corporate matching gift program to double their original donation. To find out if your company has a matching gift program, visit and follow the brief instructions.

For more information, contact the Alumni Office 610-359-7399 or send an email to

Alumni  Volunteer Opportunity

The Alumni Association, led by President Lynda Lichti '12, will be assisting the Delaware County "Delco Cruisers" Classic Car Club with their 12th Annual Holiday Cruise fro Kids. The group will meet at Rose Tree Park in Media on Sunday, December 2, 2018 from 8:30-11 a.m. Coffee and donuts are provided for all volunteers.

Volunteers are needed to help sort Toys for Tots collections by the car club which will then be distributed to children in hospitals throughout Delaware County. This is a great event for alumni to give back and help a local club with a worthwhile cause.

Alumni Presentations

Alumni are a vital asset to Delaware County Community College and current students, and can make immeasurable contributions to the College by providing personal and corporate testimonials that can help inspire and motivate our community.

Alumni guest speakers are always invited to speak to current students or recent graduates and share their experiences. We’ve played host to a number of award winning alumni and love to tell stories that inspire.

One such presentation was delivered by members of West Chester-based Schramm, Inc. The event featured Jeff Roten, Delaware County Community College Alumnus and Schramm-man-on-the-ground at the rescue dig site of the Chile mine collapse, and Bruce D. Mackay, Product Support Manager, Schramm is a West-Chester based drilling-equipment company that played a major role in the rescue of 33 Chilean miners this past October.

Roten, a former Delaware County Community College student, studied Mechanical Systems at the College in 2006 and was presented an Honorary Alumni Award for his efforts in the rescue and recovery operation. More than 100 faculty, students, Alumni and guests listened to details of the delicate operation to bring the 33 miners back to the surface two months ahead of schedule leading to one of the most inspiring stories of the year.
