Welcome Letter from Vice President for Student Affairs - Fall 2020
Dear Student,
For those of you who are new to the College, welcome to Delaware County Community College. For those of you who attended in the summer, spring, or other previous semester welcome back to the College. It is wonderful to have you as a part of the student body for the Fall Semester. I wish you a very successful experience this semester. Besides high-quality education, the College offers many services and programs to support your education. I want to provide you with general information to help you have a successful start at the College.
Online Classes begin on Monday, August 31. Face to face Saturday classes start on Saturday, August 29. Other face to face classes start as indicated in your schedule.
The College campuses that are open for the Fall include Marple, Southeast, Exton and Pennocks Bridge. The modified hours of operation for all campus are Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Students can access a full range of College services remotely. Many College services also have a limited number of in-person appointments. Before coming on campus, students are strongly encouraged to make an appointment and/or call ahead to be sure that the office is open to meet with students. Contact information or many of the offices and services is listed below.
Whenever you come on any of the campuses you will need to:
- Have a temperature check
- Answer a couple of brief health screening questions
- Receive a wristband indicating that you have passed the screening check.
- At the Marple Campus, the screening will be done in the STEM building.
- At the branch campuses, the screening will be inside of the main entrance.
Everyone is required to wear a face mask while on campus. In addition, everyone needs to maintain proper social distancing. Throughout the College campuses, you will find plexiglass shields, hand sanitizer, social distance markers and directional signage to comply with social distancing guidelines.
Add/Drop is Monday August 31 through Wednesday, September 2. You are encouraged, if possible, to do adds and drops virtually. The hours are: Virtual 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.; In-person at Marple 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; In-person at branch campus (Exton, Southeast and Pennocks Bridge only) 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Tutoring Services-- Students can make an appointment with a tutor for a remote session Monday – Thursday 8 a.m. – 8 p.m., Friday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. In addition, students have unlimited access to our 24/7 online tutoring provider, Smarthinking.
