Community Day & Homecoming, Saturday, September 23
A variety of events will be offered during the course of the day on Saturday, September 23. All events, unless otherwise noted, will take place at the Marple Campus.
Community Day Activities, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. (Open to the Public)
- Tours of campus
- Demonstrations and exhibits in STEM Center, Advanced Technology Center, Allied Health and Nursing Simulation Laboratory, Human and Physiology Laboratory and Art Gallery.
- Experience earth and space science research display, mathematical magic tricks, World War I artifacts and more
- Children's games and activities including face painting, balloon artist, games and prizes
- Special appearance by Phillie Phanatic
Unfortunately, alumna Audra McLaughlin, Season 6 finalist on NBC's The Voice, will not be able to perform as originally planned.
President's Luncheon with Retirees, Noon-1:30 p.m.
A luncheon will be held in the Faculty and Staff Dining Room in Founders Hal to introduce Dr. L. Joy Gates Black to retired faculty and staff. Please contact the President's Office at 610-359-5100 if interested in attending this event.
The Future of Law: Legal Minds Needed Panel, 1:30-3 p.m.
The Paralegal Studies program will host an alumni panel to discuss the state of the legal profession and the need for talented legal minds. The panel will be held in the STEM Auditorium (Room 1403).
Alumni panelists include Achieving the Dream National Scholar MacDonald Taylor '17, NBC 10 Legal Analyst Enrique Latosion '00 and Eileen Pettino '82.
Phi Theta Kappa/Alpha Tau Epsilon Chapter All Years Reunion, 2 p.m.
All PTK alumni are invited back to celebrate the chapter and its accomplishments in the Middle States region. The PTK committee is led by Alumni Association President Elect Lynda Lichti ’12.
Student Success Ambassadors, 2 p.m.
All student ambassadors are invited back to celebrate the college mentor program with Dr. Kendrick Mickens and Erica Reeves ‘10 from the Office of First Year Experience.
The following teams will host games and gatherings for all Phantoms to come together.
- Friday, Sept. 22, 6 p.m., Basketball Alumni Game and Gathering- Marple Newtown Recreation Center
All basketball player alumni from Delaware County Community College are invited back for a game and gathering in conjunction with our 50th Anniversary. Players are invited to play a friendly scrimmage at the Marple Newtown Recreation Center followed by a short networking reception at a local restaurant.
- 11:30 a.m., Soccer Alumni Game and Gathering, Marple Campus field
This is an all year’s reunion for the Phantoms Soccer program for players of past and present to come together and compete in a friendly.
- 2 p.m., Baseball Alumni Game and Gathering- Marple Campus field
Join the Phantoms Baseball team to celebrate the College's 50th Anniversary for a friendly game featuring players past and present. Coach Paul Motta is the host for this day on the diamond, including a short networking reception/barbecue event following the game. Friends and Families are welcome to attend

Introduction of Dr. L. Joy Gates Black, 3 p.m.
Guests will be invited to hear from our new president who will also serve as host for a time capsule burial in the campus courtyard. Alumni will have a chance to write a note to future graduates in the Class of 2067. A ceremonial cake cutting will also take place, created by students of our Culinary Arts program which is managed by local celebrity Chef Peter Gilmore.
Alumni Awards Program, 4 p.m., Large Auditorium
The day’s activities will conclude with the presentation of the 2017 Alumni Awards program in the Large Auditorium. The Rising Star, Star, Wong Moss Outstanding and Alumni Professional Achievement Awards will be presented in front of an audience of friends, family and faculty from the College.
