(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA)—Don’t miss the official grand opening of Delaware County Community College’s brand-new Learning Commons. The pervasive use of digital technologies and the new way these tools are applied to the learning process have caused the academic community to rethink the purpose and structure of the traditional college library. Today’s model, the learning commons, is one that blends a library, information technology and academic support services in a single space that is comfortable and inviting. The evolution from a traditional academic library to a learning commons represents another fulfillment of the College’s mission and commitment to student success. The College’s Learning Commons functions as a 21st Century library and provides a one-stop location for students to access library, tutoring and writing services. The facility features group study and seminar rooms, a café, a study lounge, an updated information center and reference desk as well as more than 100 computers and 50 laptops, Macbooks and iPads.
