Free GED Classes Offered in Chester County
(Chester County, PA)—In these difficult economic times, and amidst drastic cuts in funding, Delaware County Community College continues to offer free General Educational Development (GED) classes to residents in Chester County. This program, funded by a federal grant issued by the PA Department of Education and the Bureau of Adult Basic Literacy Education, enables residents to a brighter future by completing their education.
Classes for Spring 2011 will be held in Downingtown, Exton and West Grove. In addition, Math Only classes are available at the Downingtown Campus for students needing additional help to prepare for the GED Math Test.
The program is open to residents 18 years and older who have not gone through the traditional primary and secondary education process. The GED classes, taught in a classroom setting, cover Social Studies, Science, Literature, Writing and Math. Students will also have access to a Career Counselor for guidance and recommendations throughout the program.
Schedules and registration forms may be obtained at any of the College’s locations (Pennocks Bridge, Exton Center and Downingtown).
“Our GED program goal is to create a direct channel between students who complete the GED test and higher education,” explains Karen Kozachyn, Associate Dean of Community and Corporate Education. “The faculty and staff support students by connecting them with peer mentors and career counselors in hopes that they would continue their education at the College," added Kozachyn.
