Respiratory Therapy Information Sessions Available
(Media, PA)—Looking for a stimulating career in Allied Health? If you like technology, helping people, and are interested in an exciting profession, Respiratory Therapy may be for you. Delaware County Community College is offering Respiratory Therapy Information Sessions on the following dates: Tuesday, November 16, at 11 a.m.; Thursday, November 18, at 6 p.m. and Thursday, December 9 at 6 p.m. All sessions will be held at the College's Marple Campus in the Academic Building (room 4235). No advanced reservations are required.
The sessions are designed to assist both current and prospective students interested in exploring Respiratory Therapy as a career. Representatives from the College will discuss the job functions of a Respiratory Therapist including the working conditions and job shadowing opportunities, employment and earnings projections, as well as the educational and admissions requirements necessary to become certified.
Respiratory therapists, also known as respiratory care practitioners—evaluate, treat and care for patients with breathing or other cardiopulmonary disorders.They provide temporary relief to patients with chronic asthma or emphysema and give emergency care to patients who are victims of a heart attack, stroke, drowning or shock. Respiratory therapists are the only allied health professionals who are specially trained to use life-support equipment such as mechanical ventilators.
