Professor Emerald Christopher-Byrd earned her Ph.D in Language, Literacy, and Culture from the University of Maryland Baltimore County in 2015. A University of Delaware alumna, Dr. Christopher-Byrd specializes in the cultural politics of race, class, gender, and sexuality and their translation into public policy and social institutions, how feminism and hip-hop are related, how feminism has evolved in modern times and how sexual misconduct has become a major issue in the country. She has also been a university administrator in residence life and has adjudicated sexual assault and physical violence cases. She will be speaking in March about sexual assault/violence against marginalized & minority populations.
