College-Wide Reading Fiction Contest Winners
The winners of the 2022 College-Wide Reading Fiction Contest have been selected!
For this contest, participating students imagined various futuristic scenarios, each impacted by the evolving climate crisis. Student writers were free to be as optimistic or pessimistic as they want in predicting how humanity will respond and adapt to the changing climate and the urgent need to move away from our current, unsustainable reliance on fossil fuels.
Each story featured below is an original work of short fiction—a unique product of that student’s imagination. But the REAL future remains unwritten. Whether or not we can stabilize the climate depends upon the actions we take—both individually and collectively—in the years ahead. I hope these stories inspire us to do what needs to be done!
