Delaware County Community College provides many opportunities for students to receive recognition for a variety of different reasons. Campus Life promotes special student awards that are given to College students every spring semester. Who's Who Among American Junior Colleges
Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges recognizes outstanding student achievement with membership based upon scholarship, leadership, and participation in extracurricular activities and general citizenship. Students need to have completed at least 30 credits, and are singled out based on their academic achievement, community service, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success. Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges honors outstanding students from more than 2,300 institutions of higher learning in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and several foreign nations.
Outstanding Student Achievement Award
This award recognizes student service and leadership to the College and/or community in addition to academic achievement. The award recipient will be selected by the CAS Student Affairs Committee according to the following criteria:
- Outstanding academic achievement
- Contributions as a student which benefit the community or society
- Contributions to the college or college life
This award will recognize a student who exemplifies the Optimist Creed. To read a copy of the Creed please stop by the Campus Life Office. The award recipient will be selected by the CAS Student Affairs Committee. This award will be announced and presented at the Academic Achievement Awards Program.
Student Commencement Speaker
Students are encouraged to nominate a student they wish to honor with the distinction of commencement speaker (contact the Campus Life office). The commencement speaker is a member of that graduating class who presents a speech at the May commencement ceremony.
