One of my favorite quotes from Vincent van Gogh says, “I feel that there is nothing truly more artistic than to love people.” My art always comes out best when it’s done while I’m thinking about people I love. These paintings are inspired by memories shared with those I care about the most--my family. Using bright colors and simple brush strokes help make the pieces feel like glimpses into picture-like memories. I chose small moments that others can connect to as well. The more saturated colors make the pieces more whimsical and childlike. I painted these on wood blocks and created soft edges in the compositions to give off a warm homelike feeling to the paintings.
