University of the Arts Transfer Agreement

Articulation Agreement Between 

The University of the Arts and Delaware County Community College

Scope of the Agreement
The University of the Arts (UArts) is pleased to partner with Delaware County Community College (DCCC) In this Articulation Agreement to ease the transition of fine arts transfer students from the DCCC to UArts. The current agreement will expire three (3) years from the signing date so that the curriculum and other updates can be made in an orderly and planned fashion.

Requirements/Conditions for Transferring to UArts

1. UArts recognizes the curriculum of the DCCC A.F.A. programs, including the Graphic Design, Photography, Creative Writing, and Studio Arts, as equivalent to, or appropriate substitution for, two years of student work in the following BFA programs at UArts: Graphic Design, Photography, Creative Writing, Fine Arts: Painting + Drawing. This is based on the curricula and requirements that each institution has published for each program of study as of the date of this executed agreement.
2. Based on the published curricula and requirements, UArts will provide qualified DCCC applicants with a program of study in their respective areas of study wherein they can earn a BFA within two years of full-time enrollment.
3. To qualify for the terms of this transfer agreement, DCCC students must:

a. Successfully complete their associate program at DCCC.
b. Earn a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 from all colleges or universities attended.
c. Earn a "C" or better grade for all transferrable courses.
d. Complete the application for the admissions process at UArts.
e. Submit a letter of recommendation from the chair/head of their respective DCCC program.
f. Submit a portfolio that meets the visual requirement for their respective UArts program. More information can be found under 'Transfer Applicants." 

4. DCCC students interested in participating in this agreement should be advised of the UArts curriculum in the event that their elective choices might assist their eventual enrollment at UArts. 
5. Each institution agrees to provide timely notice to the other in the event of any modification to the curriculum that might affect the compatibility for admission and transfer of coursework. Representatives from each campus will confer to review and/or modify this agreement as a result of curricular changes at either institution.

7. Each institution will put forth best efforts to publicize this agreement and to share with prospective and enrolled students the opportunities afforded by this agreement.
8. This agreement shall remain in effect for a period of three years from the dates listed below, with the provision that the terms specified herein will continue to apply to students admitted from DCCC within one year of the expiration of the agreement.

The agreement is effective as of the last date of its signatories. DCCC students may seek initial enrollment under the terms of this agreement beginning with the Fall 2017 semester.

Students are encouraged to take ENG 112 at DCCC (U Arts equivalent COMP 111 Lib Arts: English composition II). If this course is not completed at DCCC, students will need to complete it at UArts.
