This symposium, moderated by 6ABC news anchor Matt O’Donnell, will have a panel of experts discussing the social-psychological and legal motivations of a variety of issues including the Aurora, Colorado movie shooting by James Holmes; Eric Gardner’s asphyxiation while in the control of several New York police officers; John Houser's Lafayette, Louisiana massacre in a movie theater; and the slaying of Samuel DuBose by University of Cincinnati police officer Ray Tensing. The discussion may include the influence of power structures, socio-economic class and discrimination on American violence. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions of the panel members.
