What exactly is ‘plagiarism’? When do I have to cite a source in my paper? What can I do to make sure I don’t get accused of plagiarism? In this webinar, we will define the different types of plagiarism and review the College’s academic honesty policy. We will identify general guidelines and conventions for source attribution. We will also discuss strategies for managing sources and using information ethically.
After this session, you will be able to:
- Describe the purpose and value of source attribution in order to identify at what points in a paper referencing a source is appropriate
- Apply research strategies in order to effectively manage and ethically use information in your assignments
- Summarize general guidelines and conventions followed by academic writers in order to establish a foundation for learning a formal style of academic writing (such as MLA and APA)
