Announcements and Tickets

Each graduate will receive four tickets and four announcements along with their cap and gown. Extra tickets are not available. The tickets are for your invited guests and must be presented at the door for admission to the ceremony at Villanova. All guests need a ticket, including children and infants. The Announcements are not tickets and cannot be used for admission. Graduates themselves do not need a ticket.

Assembly Time

Graduates should assemble at 9 a.m. sharp in the Pavilion. There will be signs and event staff to direct you where to go.

As you enter the gymnasium, you will pick up a name card. This card is what will be handed to the reader on stage and is the only way the reader will know who each graduate is. Graduates who do not participate in the ceremony will not have their names called. The name on your card will be exactly as you registered. You must remember to pick up your name card at the entrance to the gymnasium.

Signs will be posted indicating the location, by degree, of where to line up. Staff members will assist you and provide further instructions. It is strongly recommended to leave any personal belongings with friends or relatives. Delaware County Community College will not be held responsible for any lost or stolen items although we will make every effort to protect them. Please silence or turn off all electronic devices.

Graduates who arrive late will not be seated in their area of discipline and their names will be called after the awarding of Certificates of Proficiency.

Etiquette

Just a reminder that all graduates and attendees are asked to please respect each other and Villanova University, which has so graciously agreed to host Delaware County Community College’s 2016 Commencement.

The commencement ceremony is a most dignified event. Decorum and courtesy are very important for graduates and their guests. No air horns, balloons, bubbles, beach balls or similar items are allowed. Please refrain from shouting, loud talking and rude behavior. Both graduates and attendees should remain seated during the reading of the graduates' names. Photography is permitted from your seats only, but please be mindful of not blocking the view of others who are nearby.

After the ceremony, graduates will have the opportunity to purchase photos taken by a professional photographer contracted by the College.

Guests

Graduates are limited to four guests. The commencement tickets that you received with your announcements will be required for admission into The Pavilion. Having a ticket will be strictly enforced. No re-entry will be allowed. All guests attending, including infants, need a ticket to enter. Graduates themselves do not need a ticket. Please arrive on time. Guests arriving late will not be allowed to enter the seating area once the ceremony starts.

Phi Theta Kappa

The official Phi Theta Kappa commencement attire is the gold honors stole. PTK students may purchase the stoles in the Bookstore (Room 2545, Founders Hall). They are $24. Please be aware that the stole must be purchased prior to the night of graduation, they will not be available at the ceremony site.

*Please note: All students who applied to graduate and who have picked up a cap and gown may take part in the Commencement ceremony, even if they do not receive a degree. In other words, students who planned to graduate but failed to qualify for a degree because of failing a course, failing to obtain a satisfactory grade point average, etc. in the present semester, may still participate in the ceremony to the same extent as those who will receive degrees. This should preclude any embarrassment that might ensue from a last-minute change of plans.

Photography Cards

Photography cards will be available in the bookstore when you pick up your cap and gown. All cards must be filled out at this time. The College photographer, Grad Images, requests that all graduates complete a card regardless of whether or not they wish to purchase photographs.
