Welcome to The Arts at Delaware County Community College!

Now in its 19th season, the Arts at Delaware County Community College gives you exciting opportunities to experience the arts. The Art Gallery currently hosts six visual art exhibitions showcasing the work of students as well as professional artists of national and international reputation. In addition to exhibitions, artists are periodically invited to hold lectures, collaborative projects, and workshops for the College community and the public. The Drama Department is committed to providing a comprehensive theatre education to our students while bringing the results to the community through a vibrant, thought-provoking production each semester. Our goal is to make the College a cultural destination and contribute to the arts environment available in the Philadelphia region.

Fall Student Theatre Production

“Beating a Dead Horse” by Jenny Stafford

The Delaware County Community College Drama department presents its fall student theatre production of Jenny Stafford’s play Beating a Dead Horse. Steve and Marty Martin are two brothers on the brink of closing their failing pet funeral home, “A Nice Farm Upstate with Plenty of Room to Run Around.” That is, until an eccentric, rich old lady offers them a fortune for the funeral of her nearly dead racehorse, Sir Trots-A-Lot. There’s only one problem: the horse won’t die.

Join us as we welcome playwright Jenny Stafford to Delaware County Community College for a pre-show talk on Thursday, November 19 at 5 p.m.! Enjoy a special reception after her talk and stay for the performance of her play Beating a Dead Horse at 7 p.m.! Jenny is an award-winning playwright, bookwriter, and lyricist whose works have been heard on Broadway and beyond. She is also Associate Professor of Theater at Temple University’s School of Theater, Film and Media Arts.
