Supporting Student Scholarships at DCCC
Through the generosity of alumni, donors, businesses, foundations, faculty, staff, and friends of the College, the Delaware County Community College Educational Foundation awards more than $700,000 in scholarships annually through more than 150 scholarship funds.
For Donors
Establishing a scholarship is one of the most meaningful ways to invest in students and strengthen our community. A scholarship can:
- Honor or memorialize a loved one
- Recognize a family, business, or organization
- Support students pursuing a particular field of study
- Assist students facing financial barriers
- Celebrate a profession, career, or personal passion
- Create opportunities for generations of students
Your generosity opens doors for students while creating a lasting legacy at Delaware County Community College. These principles guide the Foundation’s scholarship program and help connect donor generosity with student success.
For Students
For many students, a scholarship is more than financial assistance. It is encouragement, validation, and the opportunity to continue pursuing an education that can change the trajectory of their lives. Every scholarship awarded represents a partnership between caring donors and determined students working toward their academic and career goals.
The Educational Foundation is proud to support students across a wide range of academic programs and career pathways. Unlike many scholarship programs, most Foundation scholarships do not require a separate essay application. Students who complete the FAFSA and maintain satisfactory academic progress may be considered for Foundation scholarship opportunities, depending on donor-established criteria and available funding. We generally prefer students enrolled full-time, though scholarships are available to students with a variety of backgrounds, interests, and educational goals. While there is no application to be eligible for scholarships, students may be asked to answer some questions about their background or their education and career goals to determine award eligibility. Students selected to receive scholarships are notified directly and asked to write a thank-you message to the scholarship donors. Students receiving Foundation scholarships are expected to participate in the annual Scholarship Luncheon, where they have the opportunity to meet and thank the donors whose generosity supports their education.

The Difference a Scholarship Makes
Scholarship recipients consistently tell us that financial support reduces stress, allows them to take additional courses, decreases their reliance on loans, and helps them stay focused on completing their educational goals. Many scholarship recipients are the first in their families to attend college, working adults returning to school, or students balancing family, employment, and academic responsibilities.
Scholarship Options
Annual Scholarships
Annual scholarships provide immediate support to students and are awarded directly from current gifts.
These funds allow donors to see the impact of their philanthropy right away while helping students meet immediate educational expenses.
Endowed Scholarships
Endowed scholarships create a permanent source of student support. Gifts are invested and stewarded by the DCCC Educational Foundation, allowing scholarship awards to be made year after year. Named endowed scholarships may be established with a qualifying gift or pledge. Foundation staff are available to discuss options and current funding levels. The Foundation works closely with donors to develop scholarship criteria that reflect their interests, values, and philanthropic goals.
Developing Scholarship Criteria
Whether your goal is to support future nurses, workforce training participants, or students facing financial hardship, we can help design a scholarship that reflects what matters most to you. Our team works with donors to create scholarship criteria that honor their intentions while ensuring that awards can have the greatest possible impact on students. This donor-guidance approach is part of the Foundation’s existing scholarship framework.
