Personal Introduction
After 20 years in the fields of mental health and education I love working with community college students as much now as when I first started! I enjoy the diversity of the population and the variety of experiences that each student brings to the college community. I feel honored to be a part of the process in which students start here to set new goals and work to achieve something that gives new value to their lives. And living in Downingtown, I love that I get to contribute to my own community by working at the Downingtown Center.
Academic Biography
I majored in Psychology and Political Science at the University of Pittsburgh where I earned a bachelor’s degree. I earned my master’s in counseling psychology from Immaculata University. I have 45+ credits in post-graduate coursework from West Chester University and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. I am also Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
Every student is unique and has a story to tell. Rather than use one approach, I listen to each student, and we discover together what you need to succeed. Everyone comes with a diverse set of experiences that have contributed to their personal and academic development. We can acknowledge those past experiences without being stuck in the past. DCCC offers so many opportunities to move forward and create the person we want to be. In my 24 years of college counseling, my favorite part of my job is still talking with students, hearing your stories, and helping you move beyond barriers through self-determination.
