OCS – Occupational Studies

This course is designed for the student who desires to become a one- and two-family dwelling building inspector. Fundamental requirements of the UCC/IRC and assuring proper adherence to the codes by craftspeople as well as enforcement officials will be addressed throughout the course.
Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:
Inspect footings and foundations.
Inspect concrete slabs.
Inspect wood decay and termite protection.
Inspect flooring and ceiling framing.
Inspect wall framing.
Inspect roof framing.
Inspect masonry walls.
Inspect sheeting.
Inspect roof covering.
Inspect interior and exterior wall coverings.
Inspect means of egress system.
Inspect safety glazing.
Prerequisite: CPT 102
