High School Equivalency Tests (GED & HiSET)

Delaware County Community College operates as an official Pennsylvania GED & HiSET Testing Center for residents in Delaware and Chester Counties.

The GED or HiSET testing consists of five separate tests: Language Arts Reading and Writing; Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. Candidates who successfully pass the GED or HiSET test will earn a Commonwealth Secondary School Diploma.

For candidates interested in preparing themselves before taking the standardized exam.

Exam Info

  • The GED exam is a computer based high school equivalency exam that is proctored in our Pearson Vue Test Center. 
  • The exam is four secions: Language Arts, Science, Mathematics and Social Studies. 
  • Must be 18 years old. 16-17 year olds must contact GED for special registration information. 
  • Exam cost is $30.00 per module.
  • A Pennsylvania identification will be needed for testing. Out of state residents please check the GED website for valid identification requirements. 
  • Candidates can access GED information, study materials and registration information at www.ged.com.
  • A valid Government Issued ID is required in order to take an exam.

Registration for the Exam

Registration is online through www.ged.com. Please note: You must be at least 16 years old to sign up for MyGED™. Cost of test: Total test $120. Payment is made online. You may schedule for one or more tests at a time. The cost per subject is $30. Sign up online through any computer, tablet or smartphone.

  • Purchase the appropriate test voucher(s) and schedule your test.
  • The only way to schedule a test is by going to www.ged.com
  • Watch tutorials so you know what to expect
  • Get tips on what to do and bring

On the Exam Day

  • Test candidates are required to show proof of Pennsylvania residency since diplomas are issued through the State Department of Education.
    Generally, a PA driver's license or other PA state issued ID containing a photo, signature and address is acceptable
  • Calculators are built in to the examinations, however, test candidates are permitted to bring their own TI 30XS calculator.
    No other calculators are permitted.
  • Test candidates are permitted to leave the testing room only during a scheduled break.

Checking your scores

  • Results are posted on your MyGED account within a few days.
  • Once you pass all 4 test subjects, go to www.education.state.pa.us/GED
    • Download the transcript order form
    • Complete and send it in with the required fee.

HiSET Testing

Exam Info

  • The HiSET exam is a paper based high school equivalency exam.

Students that are 16 - 17 years old must fill out this form and have it sent to HiSET (HiSET application for Minors). Sign up online through any computer, tablet or smartphone.

ACT & Residual ACT Exam

ACT Exam
Delaware County Community College is a registered site for the National ACT (American College Testing). The exam is offered in September, December, February, and April. Taking the ACT on a national basis provides the opportunity to send your score report to Delaware County Community College or any other institution. You must register online at www.actstudent.org.

Residual ACT
Residual ACT testing is provided as an entrance option to the Surgical Technology program. Test scores are reported to Delaware County Community College and are not transferable to other institutions. Residual testing dates are scheduled and administered by Assessment Services. The test is 3.5 hours in length. The cost for the Residual ACT is $50 and a valid photo ID is required. To register for a testing date, contact Assessment Services at 610-359-5322.
