(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA)—Delaware County Community College’s SpectiCast series kicks off its fall season with an HD broadcast of “Live from the Red Square” on Sunday, September 29, 2013, at 2 p.m. The performance features two of Russia’s greatest singers and will be broadcast in the Large Auditorium in the Academic Building on the Marple Campus (901 S. Media Line Road, Media, PA).
Featuring opera singer Anna Netrebko and acclaimed baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky, “Live from the Red Square” includes popular arias and duets from some of the world’s best-loved operas. This includes Tosca, Eugene Onegin and Il Trovatore. The singers are accompanied by conductor Constantine Oberlian, Russia’s State Academic Symphony Orchestra and a large chorus. Held on June 19, 2013, the performance marked the first time Netrebko and Hvorostovsky appeared together. The show was filmed using 18 high-definition cameras and 5.1 cinema surround sound.
Now in its fourth year, the College’s SpectiCast series brings the classical realm of music, dance and opera closer to home for residents of Delaware and Chester Counties. Each performance is produced using a state-of-the-art audiovisual system and is choreographed to capture the fullness of the orchestral performance and the intimacy of the on-stage experience. Performances are filmed live in some of the greatest venues around the world and then broadcast at the College. Other upcoming broadcasts include:
- Mariinsky Ballet: Swan Lake on November 3, 2013
- La Boheme on December 8, 2013
Admission is $20 for adults, $15 for seniors and $7.50 for students and children. Tickets are available for purchase online (www.dccc.edu/the-arts) and at the door 45 minutes prior to each show (cash only). For more information, please call 610-359-5266 or visit www.dccc.edu/the-arts.
