(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA • July 30, 2014)—Delaware County Community College recently welcomed two new members to its Board of Trustees, including one member who was elected an officer of the board.
The new board members are David H. Grossman, the founding director of the University of Pennsylvania’s Civic House, the university’s center for student-led civic engagement efforts, and Donald L. Heller, assistant dean of the School of Media and Communication at Temple University.
The College’s 13-member Board of Trustees also elected new officers. Michael L. Ranck, president and chief executive officer of the Community YMCA of Eastern Delaware County, is chair. Heller is vice chair. Stephen F. Gambescia, assistant dean and professor of Health Services Administration in the College of Nursing and Health Professions at Drexel University, is secretary.
Each board member serves a term of six years and regularly attends meetings and seminars in order to advance the overall mission of the College. Trustees are not compensated and must reside in one of the College’s 12 sponsoring school districts. Grossman is from the Wallingford/Swarthmore school district. Heller and Ranck are from the Springfield school district. Gambescia is from the Haverford school district.
Ranck also was recently appointed to the College’s 30-member Educational Foundation Board of Directors and is the liaison between the Foundation Board and the College’s Board of Trustees. The Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization that provides financial resources for students, faculty, programs and facilities.
