(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA • July 13, 2015)—Starting this fall, Delaware County Community College is offering a certificate program in Medical Billing that can be completed entirely at the College’s Southeast Center (located in the Curtis Building, 2000 Elmwood Avenue, Sharon Hill). The deadline to register is August 26 and classes begin August 31.
The Medical Billing certificate is a 19-credit program that provides students with the skills needed to serve as medical billers for all types of healthcare institutions. The curriculum includes medical terminology, health informatics, analysis of coded data used on claims for reimbursement, and principles of medical billing. Students who successfully complete the program will received a certificate of competency. Afterwards, they can pursue further education or begin their career. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor statistics, the mean salary for medical billing specialists is $36,770.
The Southeast Center is one of Delaware County Community College’s nine locations and offers easy access to education for residents living in and around Sharon Hill. Public transportation is available to the Center via Trolley Routes 101 and 102, the Wilmington/Newark Regional Rail Line and SEPTA Bus 113, 114 and 115.
