(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA – September 20, 2023)—Delaware County Community College is offering an unforgettable evening celebrating the indomitable spirit of jazz on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 7 p.m. at the College’s Marple Campus, (910 South Media Line Road, Media, PA 19063). Prepare to be swept away on a timeless musical odyssey as Philadelphia jazz vocalist Ella Gahnt takes center stage alongside the E.G. Trio of Aaron Graves, piano; Lee Smith, bass; and Harry “Butch” Reed, drums, for “Women’s Voices Through Time: A Jazz Vocalist’s Journey.”
The evening will celebrate the remarkable legacies of iconic jazz divas Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan and more. Gahnt will also perform her own original compositions, adding a modern twist to the rich journey of jazz. Dubbed “Philly’s Class Act” by local media and fans, Gahnt has entertained audiences at major venues and jazz festivals in the area for many years. In 2019, she was honored by the City of Philadelphia Office of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy with the “2019 Philly Celebrates Jazz Award.” She is currently working on her fourth CD.
The performance is part of 2023 Delco Arts Week! as well as the College’s 2023-2024 Concert Series. It will take place in the Large Auditorium in the Academic Building. Each semester Delaware County Community College students and residents of the Delaware County region have access to concerts featuring the world’s top musicians right in their own backyard. The series highlights the expansive musical experience available in the 21st century, presenting virtuosic and innovative musicians from around the globe.
Tickets are $10 general admission, and free to students. For tickets, visit dccc.edu/concerts.
