(Delaware County, PA • May 18, 2011) —The General Educational Development (GED) program at Delaware County Community College will hold their annual graduation ceremony on Tuesday, June 21 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Marple Campus – 901 South Media Line Road, Media, PA. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Jerry Parker, President, Delaware County Community College.
Along with family and friends, more than 60 students of the Bureau of Adult Basic Literacy Education Program (ABLE) will attend as graduates speak of the obstacles they overcame to achieve this goal and how they hope it will impact their future.
This free program, funded by a federal grant issued by the PA Department of Education and ABLE, makes it possible for residents to complete their education, thereby opening doors to more career opportunities.
The program is open to residents 18 years and older who have not gone through the traditional primary and secondary education process. GED classes, taught in a classroom setting, cover social studies, science, literature, writing and math. Students will also have access to a career counselor for guidance and recommendations throughout the program.
Schedules may be obtained online at dccc.edu/community-services.
