(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA)— The Delaware County Community College Educational Foundation announced the establishment of the Pennsylvania Chapter March of Dimes Scholarship for students in health related majors in the 2012-13 academic year. In awarding grants totaling $19,000, James Dennis, State Director of the Pennsylvania Chapter March of Dimes, said, “We are proud to partner with Delaware County Community College in awarding this scholarship to support students in their pursuit of continuing education in the health field.”
Kathleen A. Breslin, Executive Director of the Foundation, said she was especially grateful for the support because it demonstrates the shared commitment to health education of the College and the March of Dimes.
“We have a great number of students in health-related disciplines that will benefit from this support. The students selected for the scholarships will be honored to be recognized by an organization as prominent as the March of Dimes,” said Breslin.
Focusing on current priorities for the March of Dimes, Dennis added, “The March of Dimes is committed to preventing premature births, infant mortality and birth defects, and it is our hope that this scholarship will help these students to succeed in their goals to make a difference by improving our nation’s health.”
The Delaware County Community College Educational Foundation is a charitable organization exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Foundation awards approximately 120 scholarships annually.
