Delaware County Community College Offers
College Credit Through Assessment for Prior Learning
(MEDIA, PA) – Knowledge gained through training and life experience could be turned into valuable college credit. Free information sessions at Delaware County Community College will help students discover ways to earn academic credit for learning acquired outside the college classroom.
Information sessions on Credit for Prior Learning will be held on Wednesday, February 23 at 5 PM at the Marple Campus (STEM Center room 1407) – 901 South Media Line Road, Media, and Tuesday, March 1 at 5 PM at the Downingtown Campus (room 204), 100 Bond Drive, Downingtown.
Prior Learning Assessment provides students with a path to attain college credit for learning they have already mastered outside the traditional college classroom. Students come to college from a variety of backgrounds and experiences, some of which may involve college-level learning. Credit received for prior college-level learning may be applied toward many programs of study at the College. Prior learning assessment allows students to complete their college education in less time and expense. Information will be available on the College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), credit by examination, transfer of credits from other colleges and portfolio development.
Assessment counselors will be available to help students identify practical and relevant life experiences, such as professional workshops attended, volunteer activities, military training, or technical training classes equivalent or closely related to the learning expectations of the College’s courses.
For more information or to register for one of the sessions, call the Assessment Center (Monday through Thursday from 9 AM to 8:30 PM and Friday from 9 AM to 4:30 PM at 610-359-5322.
In the event of inclement weather, please check the College’s website for closings.
