(Media, PA) —The Business and Computer Information Systems Department along with the Business Society at Delaware County Community College is pleased to present Joan Dawson McConnon, Co-Founder and Associate Executive Director of Project H.O.M.E. (Housing, Opportunities for Employment, Medical Care, Education) on Monday, November 1, 2010, at the Marple Campus. The program, part of the Department’s ongoing speaker series, is scheduled from 11:15 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. in the large auditorium. The event is open to the public.
McConnon, with her associate, Sister Mary Scullion, has developed a successful model for reducing the problem of homelessness in the City of Philadelphia. This model has received numerous awards and has propelled Project H.O.M.E. into the national spotlight.
Project H.O.M.E. empowers people to break the cycle of homelessness, address the structural causes of poverty and attain their fullest potential as members of society. Project H.O.M.E. is committed to nurturing a spirit of community among persons from all walks of life, all of whom have a role to play in making this a more just and compassionate society. The Business and Computer Information Systems Department offers thirty degree and certificate programs with majors in such diverse fields as Business Administration, Marketing, Information Technology, Computer Game Development and Paralegal Studies. Its student organization, the Business Society, offers field trips and guest speaker events to compliment what goes on in the classroom.
