(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA)—The Art Gallery at Delaware County Community College is hosting its tenth annual Regional High School Art Exhibition featuring artwork created in a wide variety of media by art students from 15 high schools in Delaware and Chester Counties. It is a rare opportunity for high school students’ work—selected by teachers at their respective high schools—to be on display in a public art gallery.
The students’ work is on view from January 7 to February 6 in the Art Gallery, located in Room 2305 in the Academic Building on the College’s Marple Campus (901 South Media Line Road, Media, PA 19063). The exhibit will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., except for January 19 when the College is closed.
The exhibition features the work of students from the following high schools: Academy Park, Avon Grove, Downingtown West, Garnet Valley, Haverford, Interboro, Marple Newtown, Penn Wood, Penncrest, Radnor, Ridley, Springfield, Strath Haven, Sun Valley and Upper Darby. There will be a special exhibition reception on Wednesday, January 21 from 5 to 7 p.m., with an awards presentation. One artist from each participating school will be honored by DCCC Art faculty, who are judging the show. Refreshments will be served, and the event is free and open to the public.
The Regional High School Art Exhibition is sponsored by the College’s Communication, Arts & Humanities Division. The Art Gallery at DCCC hosts up to seven visual art exhibitions each year, highlighting the work of students as well as professional artists of national and international reputation. In addition to exhibitions, artists are periodically invited to hold lectures, offer collaborative projects and conduct workshops for the College community and the public.
