(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA • December 14, 2015)—Students from the College’s Culinary Arts program helped prepare and serve holiday dinners to about 200 people on December 6 at the Salvation Army in Coatesville.
The students were overseen by Peter Gilmore, the College’s program manager for Culinary Arts, Chef Cindy McClure, adjunct instructor for the College’s Garde Manger class, and Jarrett Young, a Culinary Arts adjunct instructor at the College who is also a chef/instructor for the Culinary program at the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU).
The Culinary Arts program is housed in the College’s Brandywine Campus, located within the CCIU’s Technical College High School at 443 Boot Road in Downingtown. Students can choose to earn an associate degree or a certificate in Culinary Arts and enjoy learning in a new, state-of-the-art kitchen. For more information, visit: www.dccc.edu/culinary.
Gilmore worked for 22 years at Philadelphia’s award-winning, world renowned, French restaurant Le Bec-Fin, where he rose to the rank of Chef de Cuisine. From 2001 to 2012, he operated his own restaurant in downtown West Chester. Gilmore’s French Cuisine received many accolades, including being named by Zagat Guide as one of the World’s Top Restaurants, one of America’s Top Restaurants and one of Philadelphia’s top ten best restaurants. Today, Gilmore spends his time instructing students in a brand-new kitchen at the College’s Brandywine Campus.
