(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA – May 2, 2024)—Delaware County Community College will present the final lecture in its Spring 2024 “Dialogues for Diversity” series on May 8, 2024 at 11 a.m. The topic is “An Asian Proposal for Overcoming Racism: Perspectival Shift from Dualism to Nondualism” and the event is free, virtual and open to the public. 

The speaker, Shigenori Nagatomo, Ph.D., will talk about the notion of a conceptual paradigm which shapes how we perceive our lives and those around us. Dr. Nagatomo will discuss two such conceptual paradigms—namely, dualism and nondualism—and explore why dualism can foster racism while nondualism does not. He will also highlight the opportunities and benefits of nondualism.

Dr. Nagatomo is professor of Comparative Philosophy and East Asian Buddhism at Temple University. He is the author of Philosophical Foundation of Miki Kiyoshi’s Concept of Humanism (The Edwin Mellen Press, 1995). The lecture is free and open to the public. Register here or at dccc.edu/cesj.
