(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA – March 29, 2024)—Erin Clemens, a 2019 graduate of Delaware County Community College, is a shining example of resilience and advocacy in the realm of autism awareness and disability rights.
Drawing from her unique perspective as a differently-abled student, Clemens will share her personal experiences and insights—as well as her involvement in initiatives aimed at promoting autism awareness and fostering inclusivity—in a lecture, “Autism and Success in the Classroom,” on Tuesday, April 2 at the College.
Clemens’ autism advocacy work includes creating video sensory guides on TikTok for those on the autism spectrum. Her remarkable journey recently captured the attention of Philadelphia’s 6abc Action News, which featured her in November 2023.
The lecture is the latest in DCCC’s Dialogues for Diversity Series of discussions, which are free and open to the public. It is available both in-person and virtually. It will take place at 3 p.m. in the Small Auditorium in the Academic Building on the Marple Campus (910 South Media Line Road, Media, PA, 19063). Register for the virtual event here or at dccc.edu/cesj.
Since 2020, Delaware County Community College’s Center for Equity and Social Justice has hosted an ongoing series of Dialogues for Diversity discussions and events with rotating topics and formats. The Center provides opportunities for meaningful dialogue that creates awareness, promotes education and leads to transformative change, equity and social justice for all people.
