(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA • September 17, 2021)—Twenty Delaware County Community College students recently received certifications in Pennsylvania State Fire Academy Hazardous Material Awareness at the College’s Marple Campus. The certification indicates that they have successfully completed four hours of training in recognizing and identifying hazardous materials at emergency scenes, as well as being able to recognize if a person has been contaminated by a hazardous material.
Delaware County Community College is a satellite Educational Training Agency for the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy, which is in Lewistown, Pennsylvania. Standing in front of the College’s ambulance simulator, which is used for training purposes, are the following:

Funding for the College’s ambulance simulator was awarded through the U.S. Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006, as amended by the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act (Perkins V). The federal grant is administered in Pennsylvania by the Commonwealth’s Department of Education.
