STEM Career Night February 22


(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA • January 31, 2018)—Delaware County Community College is hosting its eleventh annual STEM Career Night on Thursday, February 22 and invites prospective students and their families to discover the exciting world of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The event features keynote speakers Albert Frattarola, Director of Engineering & Technology at Southco, and Marty Morrison, Senior Project Engineer at Southco, and begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Academic Building Lobby at the Marple Campus (901 South Media Line Road, Media, PA).

STEM Career Night is free and open to anyone interested in learning about a career in the field. Attendees will have a chance to learn about high-growth, high-paying opportunities from local employers, including Brandywine CAD, Boeing, DePuy Synthes, Eastern Controls, Flowers Baking Co. of Oxford, Inc., Moog, Pennsylvania Machine Works, Pennoni, SAP, Southco, UTC RAS and Visual Sound. Representatives from some of the College’s partner schools will be on hand to offer guidance on how a student can graduate from the College and then transfer into a bachelor’s degree program. Delaware County Community College offers a variety of STEM majors, including Advanced Technology, CNC Programming, Science for Health Professions, Engineering, Mathematics/Natural Science and more. The College’s commitment to STEM education includes a state-of-the-art STEM Complex, comprised of the Advanced Technology and STEM Centers, that gives students access to the tools and technology they need to succeed. The Complex boasts more than 11 science laboratories and 12 specialized labs for customized education and training. The College will also open a brand new STEM Wing on the Downingtown Campus in September.

In partnership with several local companies and philanthropists, the College has more than $150,000 in scholarship money available for students pursuing a STEM major. There are 20 different scholarships, including ones from leading companies like Boeing, SAP, Southco and Sunoco. Learn more at www.dccc.edu/scholarships.

For those who do not pre-register, be sure to do so in person from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the Academic Building Lobby. Those who register will be entered for a chance to win a Dell tablet (must be present to win). The event is made possible in part through the generosity of Boeing.
