Tomoko Sakomura is Associate Professor of Art History at Swarthmore College. Her work explores the relationships between text and image in Japanese art and design. She is the author of Poetry as Image: The Visual Culture of Waka in Sixteenth-Century Japan (2016). Sakomura holds a PhD in art history from Columbia University.
