Multiskilled Medical Technician

The Multiskilled Medical Technician Program is designed as a comprehensive continuing education series to equip students with multiple foundational healthcare skills to enter or advance in allied health support roles. Cross training areas covered are Venipuncture (Phlebotomy), EKG Technician, and Electronic Health Records. The program also prepares you to sit for three national certification exams. Also included is a 4-hour Basic Life Support course which will earn you a CPR card.

Requirements:
You must be 18 years of age to enroll in this program, present a high school diploma or GED and provide proof of completion or beginning of the Hepatitis B vaccine series. Please check with your family physician/nurse practitioner regarding the advisability of receiving the vaccine, its complications, and dates of administration. Books, materials, and exam vouchers are included.

Dialysis Technician Program

The Dialysis Technician Program prepares students for entry-level employment as dialysis technicians, also referred to as hemodialysis or renal dialysis technicians. Dialysis technicians work under the supervision of registered nurses, senior technicians, and physicians to operate dialysis equipment that removes metabolic waste and excess fluids from patients with acute or chronic renal failure.

The curriculum is designed to provide the theoretical knowledge and practical competencies required for safe and effective dialysis care, consistent with the standards outlined by the Board of Nephrology Examiners Nursing and Technology (BONENT). Students will gain instruction in patient care principles, dialysis machine operation, vascular access care, infection control, monitoring of vital signs, documentation, and recognition of complications during dialysis treatment. Students will learn to initiate, monitor, and discontinue dialysis treatments in accordance with established protocols and scope of practice.

The program includes a structured hands-on laboratory component that allows students to demonstrate competency in required clinical skills prior to clinical placement. A supervised externship is included to provide clinical experience and support eligibility requirements for national certification.

This program is approved by BONENT as a recognized Dialysis Technician training program and is intended to prepare graduates to meet eligibility requirements to sit for the BONENT Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) examination. This course provides students with a comprehensive foundation in medical terminology, anatomy, and pharmaceuticals through structured worksheets and research assignments. In addition, students complete 25 hours of dictation practice, transcribing detailed reports across all major medical specialties. Upon successful completion of the course, students may be offered the opportunity to work remotely with The Medical Transcription Service.
