Letter to Students from College President Dr. L. Joy Gates Black
August 30, 2021
Welcome to the Fall 2021 semester. Some of you may be new to the College, while others may be returning to campus for the first time since March 2020. You can be confident that the College values each and every student, and that your health and safety is a priority to me, the faculty, and the entire staff. The College will maintain 3 feet of social distancing, in all classrooms and locations, with the exception of the Allied Health and Nursing and the Workforce and Economic Development Divisions which will return to full capacity. Regular and frequent handwashing is highly recommended, and sanitizing stations are located throughout all of the College’s campuses.
Please be advised that effective January 1, 2022, the College will require proof of vaccination for all students, faculty, staff and visitors to the College. There will be an exemption option for those individuals who may have legitimate reasons for not taking the vaccine, and we will of course continue to offer online courses and support services so that the educational progress of students will not be interrupted. Additional information pertaining to proof of vaccination, and instructions for how to provide that proof, will be made available in the coming weeks.
As President, my primary responsibility is to you, the students of Delaware County Community College. Requiring proof of vaccination protects not only you, but the faculty, staff, the communities we live and work in, and our families. Together, we can and will make Delaware County Community College a safe place to learn!
I wish you a wonderful Fall semester!
Dr. L. Joy Gates Black
