Dawn Grant comes to Delaware County Community College after 25 years of coaching youth basketball at both the middle and high school levels. Grant served as a middle school boys and girls basketball coach in the East Ramapo Central School District in Rockland County, New York for five years. She then went on to become the head girls’ varsity coach at Spring Valley High School. During her 10 years at the helm of the program, Grant led the Lady Tigers to three conference titles and a final four appearance in the NYSPHSAA Section One Girls Basketball Championship resulting in Coach of the Year honors voted on by her peers. Grant also coached on the AAU travel circuit where she served as a program administrator and an assistant coach for the New Jersey Sparks Athletic Club. A standout basketball student-athlete at The City College of New York (CCNY), Grant helped lead the women’s program to three City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNY) Championships, as well as three Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) post-season berths. Grant earned both a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Management and Administration and a Masters of Arts Degree in Mathematics Secondary Education from CCNY, as well as a Masters of Arts Degree in Administration and Supervision in Education from Long Island University. Recently retired from teaching, Grant will be joined on the sidelines by her daughter, Nyree, who will serve as an assistant coach.

Nyree Grant played three seasons of collegiate basketball at Wilmington University in Delaware after transferring from Loyola University New Orleans. A three-year starter, Grant finished with 786 career points for an average of 11.7 points per contest, while also pulling down an average of 8.1 rebounds a game which ranked fifth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). Receiving CACC honorable-mention honors during her junior and senior year campaigns, Grant will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Media Design Photography in December of 2019.
