Grad now at Aerotek Shoots for Next Level
An Alumni Profile with Nicole Slawinski ‘08
This is the first in a series in which the Delaware County Community College Alumni Office profiles a different graduate once a month highlighting education achievements, professional experiences and general advice for both current students and Alumni.
What year did you graduate from Delaware County Community College and with what degree?
I graduated in the Spring of 2008 with a degree in Business Administration.
Did you pursue further academic goals?
I was accepted into West Chester University through the transfer program and enrolled in classes in the fall of 2008. With hard work and dedication to taking summer courses, I graduated summa cum laude in the fall of 2009 with a degree in Business Management.
Where are you now?
I currently work for Aerotek as a recruiter. Aerotek is a professional recruiting company that provides staffing needs for professional services, light industrial, environmental, engineering, scientific, clinical and aviation industries.
Aerotek’s sister companies, Tek Systems, Stephen James and Market Source, make up Allegis Group. Allegis Group is the largest staffing firm in the United States and the fifth largest in the world. I search through resumes looking for qualified candidates, phone screen, interview, perform reference checks and submit their resumes to clients.
What is next for you professionally?
I hope to become a sales manager within the next year. This entails cold calling, establishing and maintaining relationships with companies, selling our services and supplying qualified candidates for the open job position.
What advice would you give to current students and Alumni to capitalize on the education they received from the College?
My advice is to make sure to follow up on what you learned, such as applying your education to your profession. If you are interviewing for a job, tie what you learned in school to the interview questions or ways you could apply what you learned to the job you will be performing. Take the time to fully learn what is being taught to you. The information really does come up in “the real world” and is very useful to apply to your profession.
