Nurse Aide Course
If you are a nurturing and sensitive individual who wants to convert passion into a career, consider training as a nurse aide at Delaware County Community College. The College offers a specialized “Excellence in Care” program as a 133-hour intensive course that prepares students for employment in acute care, acute rehab, hospice, home health care and long-term care facilities.
Our students enjoy a rigorous training program led by professionals with regional experience and insights. Coupled with 60 hours of required clinical experience, students completing the program are well suited to compete for these high demand jobs.

Students completing this course are qualified to take the Nurse Aide Competency exam with Pearson Vue to be a Nurse Aide placed on the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry. Departmental approval is required to enroll in the course to comply with federal and state legislative requirements-OBRA and Act 14.

2. Pre-Entrance Forms:
First Required Form - Pre-Entrace Medical Verification Form - Download the form >>
The first required form must be completed by your health care provider. It includes a two-step Tuberculosis Test (Mantoux or PPD). Once the form is completed, signed, and stamped by physician, it must be turned in to Susan Coppock in the division office with program health requirements.
3. Second Required Form - Functional Abilities - Download the form >>
This form must be completed by the student.
4. Medical Insurance
You must have proof of current health insurance coverage. (Proof of medical insurance is mandatory).
5. FBI Check: Only complete this step if you have not lived in Pennsylvania in the last two years

After you have completed all of the steps, you will receive your approval letter from the State Coordinator for Nurse Aide Training Programs. This final approval letter must accompany your entrance packet to Susan Coppock.

Upon successful completion of the course, the student is eligible to apply for competency testing with Pearson Vue. Our classroom is an approved testing site. At the end of the course, you may test as a class and in our classroom or test individually at another Pearson Vue testing site. This is dependent on the number of students testing and classroom availability. In either circumstance, after receiving approval, you will register for the test on the Pearson View website. Your instructor will give details during the course.
