Graduation Day is scheduled for Thursday, May 16, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at West Chester University. All pertinent information concerning commencement will be posted to this page and will be updated as information becomes available.
Questions? Email firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are unsure if you are eligible to graduate due to not enough credits, failure to pass a class, etc., go to Degree Works and enter your delaGATE login information. This will show if you have completed everything necessary to earn your degree or what is still needed to qualify. If you are still having trouble determining if you are eligible, please contact your advisor who is listed on the same page.
Please go to Enrollment Central in Founders Hall to apply to graduate. The deadline to apply is March 15. You may also apply at Southeast Center, Monday through Thursday, Exton Center on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Downingtown Campus on Mondays and Thursdays. We cannot offer this service at Pennocks Bridge Campus or Upper Darby Center at this time.
The College’s official attire consists of a cap, gown, hood and black tassel. If you are graduating with honors and a member of PTK, the PTK Honors stole can also be worn. If you are graduating with honors and are a member of the National Technical Honor Society, the NTHS Honors stole can be worn. If you are a Veteran, you may wear the red, white and blue cord. There will be information on your delaGATE account explaining how to order your cap and gown or you may go to www.herffjones.com/college/dccc to place your order. You must order your cap and gown online between now and March 27. If you miss this deadline, you may pick up your attire in the Campus Store beginning May 3 but run the risk of not having an exact fit. The last day for pickup is May 21 for those not attending. If you have already applied for Graduation your cap and gown is free. If you need further assistance regarding your attire, you may contact the Campus Store at 610-359-5309 or email@example.com.
Each graduate will receive three tickets and three announcements along with their cap and gown. The tickets are for your invited guests and must be presented at the door for admission to the ceremony at West Chester University. All guests need a ticket. The Announcements are not tickets and cannot be used for admission. Graduates themselves do not need a ticket.
We ask that if you are not planning on using all of your allotted tickets, please make them available to other graduates by turning them back into the Campus Store. Alternately, students may also work directly with their peers who are looking for additional tickets. Extra tickets, if available, will be given out at the Commencement Information Sessions. See below for dates.
B-1 Invitation Letters
Here is the documentation required for B-1 visas, right from the Department of State website. If you read the note in the paragraph titled “Additional Documentation,” it states: Visa applicants must qualify on the basis of the applicant's residence and ties abroad, rather than assurances from U.S. family and friends. A letter of invitation or Affidavit of Support is not needed to apply for a visitor visa. If you choose to bring a letter of invitation or Affidavit of Support to your interview, please remember it is not one of the factors used in determining whether to issue or deny the visa.
Cards will be available in the Bookstore when you pick up your cap and gown. All cards must be filled out at this time. The College photographer, Grad Images, requests that all graduates complete a card regardless of whether or not they wish to purchase photographs. If you would like to pre-register, click on this link to Grad Images.
Students or guests with disabilities needing accommodations should contact Ann Binder at 610-325-2748 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Just a reminder that all graduates and attendees are asked to please respect each other and West Chester University, which has so graciously agreed to host Delaware County Community College’s Commencement. This ceremony is first and foremost about our graduates. Please refrain from shouting, loud talking and rude behavior. Both graduates and attendees should remain seated during the reading of the graduates' names. Photography is permitted from your seats only, but please be mindful of not blocking the view of others who are nearby. After the ceremony, graduates will have the opportunity to purchase photos taken by a professional photographer contracted by the College. Thank you, family and friends for celebrating this very special occasion with our graduates and our College family.

*Please note: All students who applied to graduate and who have picked up a cap and gown may take part in the Commencement ceremony, even if they do not receive a degree. In other words, students who planned to graduate but failed to qualify for a degree because of failing a course, failing to obtain a satisfactory grade point average, etc. in the present semester, may still participate in the ceremony to the same extent as those who will receive degrees. This should preclude any embarrassment that might ensue from a last-minute change of plans.
