Theoretical Approach, Experience, and Temperament
In each of the courses I teach, my primary emphasis is to guide students into incorporating the writing process at every step of an assignment. True success can only be achieved through careful, thoughtful revision; therefore, I encourage all students to continuously revise their work by self-criticism, as well as peer review. Additionally, I believe that students are responsible for creating their own academic achievement. Students who envision themselves as successful and work diligently towards that end will, in fact, experience success. In order to develop an interpretative framework, not only must one be in class regularly, but also participate regularly. Discussion is the primary mode of instruction. Active participation and exchange of ideas on reading, writing and research are fundamental in all of my classes.
