The Annual Foundation Dinner, hosted by members of the Educational Foundation’s Board of Directors, was held on October 16, 2018. Cynthia Aigeltinger, Chair and College President Dr. L. Joy Gates Black, welcomed more than 260 donors, sponsors and student scholars and guests to Drexelbrook Corporate Events Center in Drexel Hill.
The event featured Commissioner Adam Thiel of the Philadelphia Fire Department who presented the Wong Moss Outstanding Alumni Award to the family of Captain Matthew LeTourneau ‘95. Captain LeTourneau passed away in service of the city earlier in the year. In addition to this solemn moment, students Bethany DeLoach '19 and Gabriel Frigiola '19 were chosen to speak about how the scholarships they received made an impact on their studies.
Rachael Patten, Executive Director of the Educational Foundation, concluded the evening with a call to action for support of the College's Food Emergency Resource Bank (FERB). The Foundation Board of Directors, College Staff and students appreciated the opportunity to participate in this event that is focused on generosity and gratitude.
The Delaware County Community College Golf Classic, hosted at the prestigious Rolling Green Golf Club, was held on June 24, 2019. The tournament hosted 126 golfers, the largest field in event history and raised over $40,000 in unrestricted scholarship funds.
This year the event received unprecedented sponsorship support, over $40,000, from local businesses and strategic partners of the College’s Foundation Board Directors. The event also featured the 2 Annual Drone Ball Drop, hosted by The Drone Doctor, a local FAA certified drone pilot who helped add state of the art excitement to the traditional 50/50 contest. The event also featured samples from Levante Brewing in West Chester, owned by Paul Radosh ’93.
The support received would not be possible without the dedicated committee who helped put it together. Special thanks to committee members Foundation Vice Chair Brian Coyle, L. Jay Burks, Karen Bogosian ’85, Fred Felter ’71, Kevin Bruton ’80, Sam Cohen and Denise Romanelli ‘94
This annual celebration brings together more than 250 donors, students, and local business leaders who provide generous support for our students. It creates an opportunity for students to meet their benefactors so they may express their gratitude in person for the support they received. The Foundation’s scholarships and awards are listed in a brochure and updated on an annual basis.
