Women's Empowerment Initiative

The Women’s Empowerment Initiative (WEI) is a signature Institutional Equity program dedicated to strengthening belonging, confidence, and community among women and female identifying students at Delaware County Community College. Rooted in the College’s commitment to equity and student success, WEI creates intentional spaces where students can connect, learn, and thrive—academically, personally, and professionally.

Through thoughtful discussions, workshops, and engagement opportunities, WEI fosters an environment where women feel seen, supported, and empowered to navigate their educational journeys. The initiative elevates topics such as leadership development, wellness, identity, financial literacy, career exploration, and dismantling barriers that disproportionately affect women in society, education, and the workforce. More than a series of programs, WEI serves as a community-building platform, encouraging authentic dialogue, cultivates peer networks, and amplifies the voices and experiences of women across all campuses and centers, contributing to a more inclusive and supportive campus climate.

The Women’s Empowerment Initiative is led by Dr. Adriana Bohm, Professor of Sociology.
