Admission Procedure
Admission Procedure: The minimum age for admission into the Municipal Police Academy is 18. Admission to the program is based on a first-come, first-served basis. Class size is limited. In order to ensure the safety of the student, the College and the general public, Delaware County Community College has instituted six (6) entrance requirements for students seeking admission to the Academy as described under Legislative Act 120.
- Psychological Evaluation: Must be administered by a licensed psychologist/psychiatrist and the evaluation used must comply with, be equal to, or greater than standards imposed by the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI). This testing will take place at the College's Malin Road Center. Applicants will be notified of the testing date.
- DCCC Placement Test: Each applicant is required to take a college placement test in reading, math and English. This testing will take place at the College's Malin Road Center. Applicants will be notified of the testing date.
- Health Examination**: Each applicant is required to have a physical examination administered by any licensed physician in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Criminal Background Check**: Each applicant must be willing to undergo and pass a background criminal check according to the regulations of Act 120.
- GED/High School Diploma: Each applicant must have completed the General Education Diploma (GED) or be a high school graduate to be eligible for admission to this program.
- Valid Automobile Driver's License: A valid driver's license is required for admission to the program.
**The forms necessary to complete these requirements will be made available to applicants when they sit for the testing listed above.
Applicants are responsible for any and all costs/fees associated with the
above requirements.
