A Leader in Technical Education
Our Advanced Manufacturing Technology program has been proclaimed a Center of Excellence by the Philadelphia Chapter of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. The department has developed a unique dual enrollment program with Drexel University. Dual enrollment allows students to pursue their Associate in Applied Science and Bachelor of Science degrees in Applied Engineering Technology. The entire program is delivered at DCCC's Malin Road Center for Technical Education and utilizes DCCC's state-of the-art lab facilities for Automated Manufacturing (Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD)/ Computer-Aided Machining (CAM)) and Nanofabrication Manufacturing Technology.
The college has been committed to Public Safety Education since its inception. We have one of the first and finest Municipal Police Academies accredited by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania under legislative ACT 120. In April 2003, we launched the region's first associate's degree in Emergency Management and Planning. There are six program options for individuals interested in Public Safety Careers: Municipal Police Academy, Emergency Medical Technician, Hazardous Materials Technician, Fire Science, Emergency Management and Planning, and Paramedic–Advanced Life Support. These programs are delivered at the college's Malin Road Center for Technical Education, our Exton Center in Chester County and the Government Services Center in Chester County.
The college's workforce development initiative is a continuous improvement system whereby we establish working relationships with local, regional and statewide businesses, industries, government agencies, and four-year colleges and universities to provide education in the interest of economic development. The single most important concern of businesses looking to locate or relocate in a specific region is the region's ability to supply a skilled workforce and its ability to provide a continuous education model for employee retention and skills enhancement. DCCC's philosophy is that if this region is going to compete in a global economy we must provide the market with a highly skilled workforce with post secondary degree credentials. To this end, we are continuously improving and developing courses and associate's degrees for emerging and incumbent workers. DCCC has become the institution of choice for delivering on-site, associate's degree programs for the existing workforces at Sunoco, PECO, UPS, QVC, and Wyeth. Many of our business partners offer scholarships to individuals interested in careers in technical education and public safety.
