Gould Award 2005
Patricia Contrisciani, Professor of Nursing
Dr. Patricia Contrisciani of Westtown professor of nursing at Delaware County Community College, was named the 2005 recipient of the College’s prestigious Gould Award for Teaching Excellence. Presentation was made at Commencement exercises in May.
The Gould Award is presented annually to a faculty member whose dedication, achievement, and love for teaching inspire both students and colleagues. Nominations are made by students and the recipient’s identity is kept secret until Commencement when winners receive a commemorative plaque and a $1,000 check.
Contrisciani, who has been with DCCC for 26 years, thanked her “wonderful nursing students” for nominating her for the award, and thanked DCCC for allowing her to teach, mentor, and support her students
"I happen to love teaching," she said, "and always have. It’s a joy to share what I know about nursing both in the classroom and clinically. It’s always been a pleasure to teach my students – no gift I’ve given has made me happier. And the light in my students’ eyes is one of the greatest gifts I have received."
The Gould Award was established by the late Jerry Gould, one of DCCC’s founding trustees. Ms. Gould created the award in the belief that an outstanding faculty is at the heart of education.
