Technology Building Programs

The Advanced Technology Center is a 32,000 square foot pre-engineered building and the first of the two buildings in the STEM Complex to open on the Main Campus in Media. The building provides unlimited design flexibility in housing technical programs and caters to the unique training requirements of business and industry.

The new building opened to classes in September 2009.

The Advanced Technology Center focuses on high-demand occupations in a 21st century educational environment. Among its unique features are highly specialized programs designed to meet the employment needs of major corporations.

Other programs range from the traditional trades/technical – automotive, electrical, HVAC systems, plumbing, and welding – to the award winning, advanced technology programs in Applied Engineering Technology (AET). The Center's new Advanced Manufacturing Laboratory is recognized as a center of excellence by the Philadelphia Chapter of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.

New offerings include courses in green technology, such as PV Solar, Weatherization, Green Roof Construction and Geothermal Heating and Cooling Systems.

The Advanced Technology Center’s brightly colored interiors, light-filled rooms and corridors provide a stimulating learning environment. Large windows between the corridors and the laboratories will allow visitors to view technology education in action. Within this environment, students will gain the hands-on experience in the practice of technical and cooperative skills required of the 21st century workforce.

With sustainable features such as energy-efficient systems, recycled materials, and daylight harvesting, the facility, like the Science building, will minimize its environmental impact and limit its use of nonrenewable resources.
