Interactive Simulation Technology
The College has made significant infrastructure investments in to assure the best possible student experience. One such investment has been the purchase of two interactive simulators - Sim Man and Sim Baby, made by the Laerdal Corporation - that instructors use in various classroom situations.
This technology allows the student get experience assessing and treating a patient safely and within the ultimate supportive environment. Simulators “breathe,” have heart, lung and bowel sound capabilities and realistic vital signs.
In class, various scenarios can be carried out allowing both student and instructor to experience different disease states. Debriefing after the scenario allows for exploration of positive and negative responses performed and discussion can lead student and instructor to resolve how to improve patient care and assessment skills.
