Delaware County Community College provides many paths to enhance an individual’s professional development both in and out of the classroom. Here is a sampling of the opportunities afforded you through the Center to Promote Excellence in Teaching and Learning.
Join us every May for a two-day immersion in a current educational topic chosen by faculty. All full- and part-time faculty, staff, and administrators are invited to participate; the Faculty Institute is also open to other interested faculty at surrounding colleges.
Looking for information about the latest technology and its use in the classroom, instructional design, or classroom management techniques? Contact the Center to arrange for an individual session or look for periodic e-mails from the Center to learn about our regularly scheduled small group sessions — we can help you grow professionally!
Every summer, the Center offers on-line learning institutes and modules to help anyone interested in on-line pedagogy, ranging from Web Study to hybrids to full on-line distance learning. Look for registration information in late April.
All in-service professional development workshops are open to all College employees, full- and part-time. Please see the specific in-service schedules on delaGATE; they are issued in August, October, January, and February.
An integral part of professional development is a faculty member’s individual understanding of the various roles he or she assumes within the institution; these interests and assumed responsibilities often extend outside the classroom. If you are interested in working on a specific institutional project or are interested in assuming some responsibilities that may be more administrative in nature, Faculty Fellows may be a great choice for you! Applications are accepted through the Provost’s Office.
