Delaware County Community College, in partnership with the Chester County Intermediate Unit, will open our newest location, a state-of-the-art educational facility in Southern Chester County in September 2008. The Pennocks Bridge Campus, situated on Pennocks Bridge Road in Jennersville, is a one-of-a-kind, hybrid facility combining a community college and a technical high school in one location affording secondary and post-secondary students the opportunity to learn together.

The College will offer three associate degrees that can be completed at the site: the Associate in Arts, the Associate in Science and the Associate in Applied Science. College transfer programs will be offered in the following fields of study: Behavioral Science, Business Administration, Communication Arts, Education, Liberal Arts and Science for Health Professionals. There will be an emphasis on allied health, general and technical education. The majority of course offerings will be in the evening with science, general education and technical education courses also offered during the day.

Ten technical career and certificate programs will also be offered, including Automotive Technology, Carpentry, Emergency Medical Technology and Paramedic, and Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. Professional certificates such as computer training, English as a Second Language, grant writing and fundraising will also be offered along with emissions certification and automotive safety inspection. Partnerships will be formed with local businesses and industry to encourage employment opportunities.

High school students can apply to be dually enrolled in college courses or program clusters while completing their high school requirements. These dually-enrolled students will earn both high school and college credit and will be able to graduate from high school with as many as 16 credits of college-level work.

In addition to the College community, this hybrid campus is expected to draw students primarily from five school districts: Avon Grove, Kennett, Octorara, Oxford and Unionville-Chadds Ford. Based on population projections, demographic patterns and high school graduation rates, it’s projected that the college will serve about 600 students during the first year.
